Illinois has a strong tradition of union members holding public office from local to state to federal offices. In an effort to encourage, educate and support union members running for public office, the Illinois AFL-CIO Executive Board approved the creation of a Labor Candidates Program. The goal of this program is to maximize union member votes and resources to elect fellow members to public office.
As plans are finalized for this program, it is important that an assessment is made of union members who currently hold or are running for office. Please let the Local Union know the following information if applicable: Name; Current Elected Office Held (include district); Office Seeking; Contact Phone or E-mail.
